Army began the game red-hot, exploding offensively for a long 72-yard touchdown run by senior quarterback Christian Anderson.

The Black Knights got their first turnover of the afternoon off of an early interception, as Miami redshirt sophomore quarterback AJ Mayer was picked off by Army junior cornerback Cameron Jones.

The RedHawks responded to the turnover with a long drive that fell short of the end zone by only 11 yards. Freshman kicker Marlon Dawson Jr. kicked a 29-yard field goal to get Miami on the board for the first time in West Point.

The Black Knights responded immediately, as Anderson bust loose for his second touchdown run of the game — a 75-yard touchdown run to put Army up by two scores.

A blocked punt that was recovered by Army sophomore defensive back Quindrelin Hammonds set the Black Knights up with great field possession at the Miami 14-yard line. This set up a 21-yard field goal by junior kicker Cole Talley.

Sophomore running back Anthony Adkins opened the fourth quarter with a four-yard touchdown to put the Black Knights up by three scores. Talley’s extra point was no good.

In just one play, the RedHawks responded with an 80-yard pass for a touchdown from sophomore quarterback Brett Gabbert to freshman running back Kevin Davis.

The Black Knights stay perfect at 4-0, while Miami drops to 1-3.

Versus the RedHawks, Army racked up 384 yards of total offense, all of it on the ground. The Army offense did not complete a pass in the game.

Offensively, Anderson easily led the Black Knights in rushing with 236 yards on the afternoon.

On defense, Army had three leaders in tackles: junior defensive back Marquel Broughton, sophomore linebacker Spencer Jones, and senior linebacker Arik Smith all had six.
