How The Flacons Can Reach The Championship
by Graham Knight
The Air Force Falcons still have a chance to make the Mountain West Conference Championship Game. Here is the current situation and the scenarios where the Falcons can play for the title:
Air Force, Boise State and Utah State are all tied up at the top of the Mountain Division at 5-2.
The Falcons need to win their final game against UNLV, but there's plenty of motivation.
First, it's Military Appreciation Day, and the final home game for the Air Force seniors. To top things off, the Rebels are 2-9 on the season.
Should the Falcons win versus UNLV, they'll also need either Boise State and Utah State to lose to New Mexico in Albuquerque or have both Utah State and Boise State win.
A three-way tiebreaker favors the Falcons, as does a two-way tiebreaker with Boise State. The Broncos play San Diego State this weekend.
If only Air Force and Utah State win, the Aggies advance based on their win over Air Force in September. An Air Force loss makes it tough for the Falcons to advance, unless both the Broncos and the Aggies both lose as well.
In the West Division, San Diego State has a one game lead over Fresno State, with just a single game remaining.
